Azerbaijan Holidays from Dubai
Baku is a study in contrast — a walled medieval core beside a seafront promenade and the curved glass of the Flame Towers above it. The city is clean, easy to navigate and considerably more relaxed than its skyline suggests.
Beyond the capital, Gobustan holds petroglyphs carved over thousands of years, and the surrounding plain is dotted with mud volcanoes. North-west towards Gabala and Sheki the landscape turns green and mountainous, with a well-preserved Silk Road caravanserai and a palace of stained glass at Sheki.
Highlights
- Icherisheher, the walled old city, and the Maiden Tower
- The Flame Towers and the Heydar Aliyev Centre
- Gobustan rock art and the mud volcano field
- Ateshgah fire temple and the natural flames at Yanar Dag
- The mountain road to Gabala and the forests around it
- Sheki Khan’s Palace and its shebeke stained glass

Best time to visit
April to June and September to October are the pick, with mild weather in Baku and comfortable conditions in the mountains. Summer is hot and humid on the coast. Winters are cool and windy, though the city is quieter and hotel rates soften.
