Georgia Holidays from Dubai
Georgia packs an unusual amount into a short trip. Tbilisi is a walkable capital of sulphur baths, balconied old houses and a genuinely good restaurant scene. Two hours north the Greater Caucasus rises sharply, and the road to Kazbegi is one of the more dramatic drives in the region.
East of the capital, Kakheti is the heart of Georgian winemaking, where qvevri — large clay vessels buried in the ground — are still used much as they were thousands of years ago. It suits travellers who want mountains, history and food without long transfers between them.
Highlights
- Old Tbilisi on foot, from the sulphur bath district up to Narikala Fortress
- The Georgian Military Highway north through Ananuri to Gudauri
- Gergeti Trinity Church beneath Mount Kazbek
- Qvevri winemaking and long lunches in the Kakheti wine country
- The hilltop town of Signagi above the Alazani Valley
- Uplistsikhe, a cave settlement carved into the rock near Gori

Day 3 — North on the Georgian Military Highway to Ananuri, Gudauri and Gergeti Trinity Church.

Day 5 — Mtskheta and Jvari Monastery, then free time before your departure transfer.
Best time to visit
Late spring and early autumn are the most comfortable, with warm days and clear mountain views. Summer is hot in Tbilisi but pleasant at altitude. Winter brings skiing at Gudauri, though some high mountain roads can close in poor weather.
